What is Workforce Training?
Workforce training is the process of providing the best, most up-to-date training to employees, making them more competitive in the workforce, and valuable to an employer. In 1999, the North Dakota legislature created the Workforce Training Initiative - on a statewide level and made it a top priority. They recognized that for North Dakota to remain viable and competitive, major changes were urgently needed for business, industry, and individual communities. The Workforce Training Initiative was created to solve the problems faced by businesses, which is hiring and maintaining a well-trained workforce.
The Northwest Workforce Training Center
Williston State College was given the responsibility of overseeing the Workforce Training Center for the northwest quadrant, covering McKenzie, Williams, Divide, Burke, Mountrail, Renville, Ward, Bottineau, McHenry, and Pierce counties. The Workforce Training Center has employees at Williston State College and Minot to serve business and industry throughout the quadrant.

Mission
The mission of the Northwest North Dakota Workforce Training Division is to focus on training and retraining for State Planning Regions I and II, which form the northwest quadrant. Our partnership with business and industry fosters an environment of continuous improvement to provide the state with a competitive workforce.
The Northwest North Dakota Workforce Training Quadrant is dedicated to building long-term relationships with customers through quality training and customer support. The desire is to be recognized as the premier provider of training for the northwest region of North Dakota.
Our emphasis will be on providing complete customized training based on having a detailed knowledge of the training needs of business and/or industry. We will be able to both advise and direct our clients to the type of training they will need to get the very best out of their employees.
