H1N1 Information

Know What to Do About the Flu
This page is provided as a means of informing students/parents/guardians of any serious campus health related issues that may occur, in particular the H1N1 flu (aka: Swine flu). Also provided for your convenience is a link to the CDC website regarding influenza.

Will WSC close campus because of H1N1?
Administration at WSC will make closure decisions based on consultation with public health officials and a thorough assessment of the health threat to the campus community.  A campus closure would require significant absenteeism due to illness.   Absenteeism is being monitored; pertinent information will be communicated as necessary.

How can I avoid getting the flu?

  • Cover your cough and/or sneeze with your elbow or tissue, immediately throw tissue away and wash your hands
  • Wash hands for 20 seconds with warm, soapy water or use instant hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available
  • Avoid close face-to-face contact with people who are ill
  • Get adequate sleep every night
  • Do not share cups, makeup, eating utensils, lip balm, or water bottles with anyone
  • Get your seasonal flu vaccine, and when available, the H1N1 vaccine
