13 steps to receive financial at WSC
 

  1. Apply for admission at the college of your choice.
  2. Complete your taxes early and keep a copy.
  3. File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as taxes are completed. Priority date of March 15.
  4. Within 2-6 weeks you will receive a Student Aid Report either through regular mail or email. The timing depends on if you filed by mail or electronically.
  5. If you are selected for federal verification, you will be sent a request from the college to submit copies of your tax returns,W-2s, and complete a verification form.
  6. If you are a transfer student, you must submit academic transcripts from previous colleges attended to the admissions office.
  7. In April or May you will receive an award notice from the college.
  8. You must then complete, sign and return the award notice indicating whether you would like to borrow a student loan, and which lender you would like to service the loan or you may accept/deny any awarded aid online through your CampusConnection portal using your ID and password.
  9. In early August you will be receiving a promissory note from your lender, if you chose to borrow. This note must be completed and returned to the lender as soon as possible.
  10. Classes begin.
  11. During the first week of classes you must complete entrance counseling, if you have not previously borrowed a Stafford or Perkins Loan.
  12. Your financial aid will automatically credit your account, and an excess aid check will be processed for the remaining balance.
  13. You may pick up your excess aid or pay any additional fees on Fee Payment and Disbursal day. You may also receive your excess aid by direct deposit if you have completed the necessary forms prior to disbursal.
