SLPA Program Requirements
 

Speech Language Pathology Assistant (A.A.S)
Program Requirements


Students are admitted to the program each spring semester. Program applications are due November 15th. The number of students admitted to the program is limited. Admittance is based on the following criteria:

    • Submission of a completed SLPA application packet and:
      1. Application Letter (typed)
      2. Two letters of reference (employers, teachers preferred)
         
    • Completed application for admission to the home campus.
       
    • Submission of high school transcript (or equivalent) and all college transcripts.
       
    • Completion or in the process of completing the following courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5:
      1. ENGL 110:  College Composition I
      2. CSCI 101:  Introduction to Computers
      3. Science (BIOL 115: Human Structure and Function with Lab)
      4. CD 110:  Survey of Communication Disorders
         
    • Overall GPA of 2.25
    • School districts may require criminal background cheks before entering a school setting.

    Contact the Distance Education Office at Williston State College for application forms for admission to the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant-Paraprofessional Program.  The admissions committee will review the applications and qualifications of each individual. Each student who has completed the application process will be notified in writing of his/her acceptance into the program. A maximum of 10 students will be admitted to each class at Williston State College.
