EDU 250 Introduction to Education

Description:
This course introduce teaching as a profession through the study of historical, legal, sociological backgrounds, problems, issues; included field experiences in actual classroom situation.

Co-Requisite:
EDU 298

Learning Outcomes (Course Objectives):

  • To explore the personal motivation for choosing teaching as a profession.
  • To consider trends and realities of teaching.
  • To recognize consideration of the learner, subject matter, philosophy, and context in which one teaches impacts decisions made by the classroom teacher.
  • To observe actual classroom activities and reflect upon them.

Homework (Workload):
The student will be responsible for 30+ hours of classroom observation plus the time required to write three papers, be involved in chat times which will be set up in advance and three projects.
