What is an Entrepreneur?

Not everyone has what it takes to own their own business. Aside from technical business skills, successful entrepreneurs require a certain set of personality characteristics successfully manage a small business. You could have a great deal of entrepreneurial talent and not even know it. A career as a small business owner could be the right choice if you:

      • Are an independent self-starter,
      • Are innovative and creative,
      • Have the confidence to make decision,
      • Are willing to take calculated risks,
      • Are able to adapt to new situations and circumstances,
      • Have a strong work ethic,
      • Can set and achieve goals,
      • Possess self discipline, leadership ability, and organizations skills

Student Goals

  • Develop an understanding of the risks and rewards associated with small business management.
  • Learn the fundamental customer service skills that are integral to small business success.
  • Develop fundamental management skills to increase business efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Gain a "real-world" understanding of the issues facing small business in today's economy.
  • A business plan will be the end result of completing the entrepreneurship program.
  • Students will complete a study of leadership techniques.
  • Students will develop and appreciation of learning as a life-long pursuit.

Opportunities in Entrepreneurship

The Entrepreneurship program is designed for men and women preparing for careers as a small business owner or as an employee of a small business. The course offerings are designed to provide a broad range of general business knowledge as specific specialized skills.

Associate in Applied Science

An AAS Degree in Entrepreneuship provides the graduate necessary skills for starting and operating a small business. It is directed at the potential or current entrepreneur, on who chooses to open and manage a business, and to persons who serve as employees of small business.

Associate in Applied Science Curriculum

15 General Education Credits including:

1. One class from each of the following two areas:
  • Communications
  • Math or Science
2. One class from three of the following four areas:
  • Humanities
  • Social Science
  • Computer Technology
  • Wellness

16 Credits Complete in Residence
