What is a Registered Nurse?
Registered nurses (RN's) work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness. When providing care, they monitor patients' conditions, administer medications and treatments prescribed by the physician, and work with the physician and other members of the health care team. In large hospitals, RN's typically work in all areas including; medical, surgical, intensive care, emergency, obstetrics, pediatrics, and hospice. They also develop and manage nursing care plans, supervise other members of the health care team, and coordinate patient care.
