Getting Started With WebCT 6.0

The following list are tips that will help improve your webCT 6.0 account.  If you need assistance, please contact Ryan or Ron in the Distance Education Office.

1. Windows Vista:
   Windows Vista is currently not supported with WebCT 6.0. A patch is currently being constructed by webct6.0 to fix this problem.
    
2. Internet Explorer 7:
   At this time Internet Explorer 7 is not compatible with WebCT 6.0. A patch is currently being constructed to fix this problem. In the meantime we recommend Mozilla Firefox 1.5.
    
3. Pop-up Blockers:
   Pop-up blckers must be disabled.  Most pop-up blockers can be found in the toolbars.
    
4. Google Desktop Search:
   This feature can cause problems with Java.  To disable, go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove this feature.
    
5. Java:
   Too many versions of Java on your computer may cause major problems for webct.   If you do run into problems, you may need to remove previous versions of Java and install the new version of Java. 
    
6. Browser Checker:
   Be sure to run the Browser Checker to ensure that you have the correct features for WebCT. (The browser checker can be found on the webct 6.0 login page)
    
7. Technology Requirements:
   Be sure that your computer has the minimum requirements for webCT to function correctly.  To view a list, click on Technology Requirements.
