COURSE TITLE AND NUMBER: ASC 076 Applied Study Skills
CREDIT HOURS: 1 credit, 2-50 minute periods per week for 14 weeks,
1400 minutes total.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course applies to specific content areas such as keyboarding, computer applications, mathematics, and accounting. Instruction will be individualized and my include videos, computer tutorials, using resource materials, and cooperative learning through study groups.

GENERAL EDUCATION OUTCOMES: Analytical Thinking - gathering, organizing and evaluating information, Analogical Thinking - using former knowledge and experience to help comprehend and explain new situations, Critical Thinking - ability to identify and define criteria, understand biases, and construct objective judgements, Problem solving - ability to analyze situation and synthesize solutions, Mathematics - numerical literacy and the knowledge and use of statistical and logical processes, Technology - computer skills, and an awareness of technological change in society, Survival Skills - time management, study skills, stress management, and self assessment, Lifelong Learning - realization that learning is a continuous process of evaluation and reevaluation.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Provide a calming atmosphere, develop skills, bolster students awareness of their abilities, encourage independence, enhance course success, improve grades.

ASSESSMENT METHODS: The general education outcomes and course objectives with be assessed by attendance, attitude and participation.

GRADING POLICY: Grading is S-satisfactory or U-unsatisfactory

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance is taken each class period and the specified amount of class time must be fulfilled in order to receive credit. Please advise of absence and make-up can be arranged.
