FINANCIAL NEED ANALYSIS CALCULATION
Williston State College recognizes that the cost of an education plays a major
role in a student's decision-making process. Following is information needed
to make an estimated determination of your eligibility for federal financial
aid.
The formula that is used to determine eligibility for need-based aid is, actually,
quite simple. We determine your Cost
of Attendance (COA) and subtract from
it the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and grants/scholarships or other
aid you may be receiving. The difference is the Estimated Financial Need, which
is the figure we try to meet with available need-based
aid, including grants,
scholarships, work-study, and/or loans. The EFC can be obtained from the Student
Aid Report (SAR) if you have received one in response to your processed FAFSA
or Renewal Application. If you have not applied for federal aid, as of yet,
you may find the EFC
Estimator helpful in providing an estimated EFC.
